Setup Guide

Prerequisites

Before setting up Social Vault:
  • Have at least 1 guardian added (recommended: 2-3)
  • Decide on your security parameters

Step-by-Step Setup

Navigate to Social Vault

Go to Dashboard > Social Vault

Click Setup Vault

Click the Create Social Vault button

Set Daily Limit

Choose your instant withdrawal limit:

This is the max you can withdraw instantly without guardian approval.

Set Timelock Duration

Choose how long to wait for large withdrawals:

Set Required Signatures

Choose how many guardians must approve:

Create Duress PIN

Create a secret 4-6 digit PIN.
This PIN locks your vault instantly. Only use in emergencies! Never share this PIN with anyone.

Confirm and Sign

Review settings and sign with your wallet.

Using Your Social Vault

Deposit Funds

Go to Social Vault

Dashboard > Social Vault > Deposit

Enter Amount

Enter USDC amount to deposit

Confirm

Approve and confirm the transaction

Instant Withdrawal

For amounts within your daily limit:
  1. Go to Social Vault > Withdraw
  2. Enter amount (within limit)
  3. Enter recipient address
  4. Click Withdraw Instantly
  5. Confirm transaction

Large Withdrawal

For amounts exceeding daily limit:

Request Withdrawal

Enter amount and recipient, click Request Withdrawal

Wait for Approvals

Your guardians receive notifications. They must approve the withdrawal.

Wait for Timelock

After approvals, wait for timelock period.

Execute

Once timelock expires, click Execute Withdrawal
Timeline Example (24h timelock, 2-of-3 guardians):

Hour 0:  Request submitted
Hour 2:  Guardian 1 approves
Hour 5:  Guardian 2 approves (threshold met!)
Hour 24: Timelock expires
Hour 24+: You can execute withdrawal

Duress PIN (Emergency Lock)

If you’re being forced to make a withdrawal:
  1. Go to any withdrawal screen
  2. Enter your duress PIN instead of completing withdrawal
  3. Vault locks immediately
  4. All pending withdrawals cancelled
  5. Guardians notified silently
The duress PIN:
  • Looks like a normal transaction to an attacker
  • Locks your vault completely
  • Alerts your guardians through secure channels
  • Requires guardian recovery to unlock

Recovery After Lock

If your vault is locked (either by duress PIN or guardian action):
  1. Guardians must initiate recovery
  2. Majority of guardians must approve
  3. Waiting period for recovery
  4. New owner address can be set if needed

Best Practices

Set it to cover typical daily needs, but low enough to limit theft impact.
Do a small withdrawal to make sure everything works before depositing large amounts.
Make sure your guardians know:
  • They’re your guardians
  • How to approve withdrawals
  • How to reach you for verification
Keep it in your head only. Don’t write it down digitally.
Check your guardian list and settings periodically.
